Each spring, the “cherry blossom front” moves northward across Japan. Starting in Kyushu and traveling up to Hokkaido, you can enjoy sakura somewhere in the country for about a month.
1. Hirosaki Park (Aomori)

About 2,600 cherry trees surround Hirosaki Castle. Late April–early May.
2. Ueno Park (Tokyo)

One of Tokyo’s most famous hanami spots with about 800 trees. Late March–early April.
3. Yoshino Mountain (Nara)

A breathtaking mountain covered with around 30,000 trees. Early–mid April.
4. Takato Castle Park (Nagano)

Known for its deep pink Takato Kohigan-zakura. Early April.
5. Goryokaku Park (Hokkaido)

Star-shaped fort surrounded by 1,600 trees. Late April–early May.
