Street Art

I feel like Japanese culture is well known for being creative and artistic. Japanese people seem to be well regarded in the art world – fashion, design, etc.

I actually have no idea if Japan is known for having street art, but in my personal opinion, there’s a lot of cool street art to be discovered.

I’m not sure where it comes from, I wonder if it is commissioned by business owners? I would be surprised if it was done without permission as Japan tends to be a very law-abiding society.

This one is not so bold, but it stood out to me. I’m not sure if it was the English or the message itself – but I liked it.

Sometimes you’ll see really large colorful pieces on the whole side of the building.

I can mostly speak for the Kanto/ Tokyo area but I have seen street art in other parts of Japan too.
