Yokan

Hope all is well!

Today I wanted to share with you, one of my Autumn specialties that I look forward to eating in the Autumn season. It is called “Yokan”! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y%C5%8Dkan

When I first heard it is a dessert made of red bean paste, agar, and sugar, it sounded weird and not so delicious… but when I tried it, it was delicious!! It is sweet, soft, and tasty! The reason why I find it an autumn speciality, is that I love the yokan that has chestnuts on them!

Also, I found out that it is not only with beans, and has varieties! It can be made from sweet potato, and called “imo-yokan”! (It is the yellow one on the left side in the picture.) My brother said he liked this sweet potato one, since it tastes like a sweet potato paste!

Autumn specialties are one of my favorites!

Stay tuned for more of Salthi!
